Pulse app enables users to avoid paying extra for taxi service by estimating when Uber surges will end. The app displays Uber’s current rate multiplier for a chosen location, and applies a unique surge analyzer to chart how the rate has changed over the past hour. Individuals can use this information to determine the best time to order a taxi.
Most Uber surges are very short. If the app shows that the multiplier at a given location has been growing for 15 minutes, the user can assume it will drop off soon. By monitoring the chart for as little as 10 minutes before ordering a taxi, users can pay the regular rate, rather than the surge rate. Users can save up to 200% on fares with the Pulse app.
